Thanksgiving Tree & Christmas Decorations

Well, it's that time of year again.  Decorating time.  Not sure if I have ever been this overwelmed before.  I am a month late with the Thanksgiving tree. The Christmas tree is up, but only decorated with lights and ribbon. I stare at the storage containers with all our treasures inside and wonder if I stare long enough, they will become truly magical and float to the perfect spot in which they belong.

Let me explain the Thanksgiving tree.  When my Mom died, July 7, 2007, I felt empty. Of course I did, it's only natural when your Mother dies; her child to feel empty.  Then I thought about all the family that has passed before Mother; Granddaddy Jack, Grandmother, Ma, Granddad Steve, Cookie, Uncle Ed, Aunt Jeanne, and all the other people I have come to know through my geneology research.  I decided we needed a Thanksgiving tree. Thankful for bringing such wonderful, graceful, and truly passionate relatives into our lifes.  Each person I named has a distinct attribute about them and only can imagine what Grandpa John from Ireland was like in 1720.

It's not only family, but friends as well. I give thanks for Howard, Debbie Clark, Mark Sutherlin, Paul Benavidez, Ricky Alba, Mr. Harris, Mr. Salopek, Pancho, Bill Moore and the list goes on and on.

In addition, it's not just about who has passed in our lives. It's also about who we have passed in living our lifes. Who has crossed our path and meant something to us, whether they realize it or not?  Some are still in our life and some have moved on. That's ok, we all have missions in life; we just don't know what that mission is until we meet our Lord.

Now, for those storage boxes of decorations; they are staring back at me.  I give up. Tomorrow will be here soon enough. Besides it's not what is in the boxes; it's what is inside that counts.

With blessings to all,
Carol Jean
